राज्यपाल लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल गुरमीत सिंह (से नि) ने प्रदेशवासियों को लोकपर्व ‘हरेला’ की शुभकामनाएं दी हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि पर्यावरण को समर्पित ‘हरेला’ पर्व उत्तराखण्ड की सांस्कृतिक परंपरा और प्रकृति के संरक्षण एवं संवर्द्धन का पर्व है। उन्होंने कहा कि हरेला पर्व हमारी लोक संस्कृति, प्रकृति और पर्यावरण के साथ जुड़ाव का भी प्रतीक है। हमारी प्रकृति को महत्व देने की हमारी परंपरा रही है और हम प्रकृति के विभिन्न रूपों की पूजा करते हैं। हमारी इन परंपराओं का वैज्ञानिक आधार भी है।
राज्यपाल ने कहा कि हमें उत्तराखण्ड की पर्यावरण हितैषी परंपराओं को आगे बढ़ाना है तथा हरेला पर्व के माध्यम से पर्यावरण संरक्षण के संदेश के प्रति लोगों को जागरूक करना है। उन्होंने कहा की वर्तमान में ग्लोबल वार्मिंग तथा पर्यावरण असंतुलन जैसी समस्याओं के चलते पर्यावरण संरक्षण का महत्व बढ़ गया है। उन्होंने कहा की हमें प्रकृति संरक्षण और प्रेम की अपनी संस्कृति के साथ ही उत्सवों को मनाए जाने की परंपरा को बनाए रखना होगा। राज्यपाल ने कहा कि हम सभी प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की ‘‘एक पौधा माँ के नाम’’ मुहिम का हिस्सा बनकर एक-एक पौधा अवश्य लगाएं।
